Welcome to UNISON Pembs County Website

Unison Friend at Work

Our branch represents staff employed by Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire College, National Park and private care and community organisations across the county.

We negotiate for better pay and conditions, help individuals in trouble and campaign for a safer, fairer society. UNISON is Britain's biggest public service union, representing almost 1.3 million people across the UK's public services.

International Workers Memorial Day 2021

Yesterday, 28th April 2021, was International Workers memorial Day (IWMD), a day to remember the dead and fight for the living.

Up to 50.000 people die each year in the UK from work related ill health and accidents. Although few UNISON members die in workplace incidents, many do suffer injuries and work-related ill health.

UNISON Pembrokeshire County Branch has a longstanding tradition of marking this important day and in 2019, the Branch collaborated for the first time with Pembrokeshire College and their construction students to celebrate IWMD.

Unfortunately, last year’s commemorations had to be cancelled due to Covid.  However, this year construction students at Pembrokeshire College were able to once again design and build a disabled access picnic bench which the Branch has now donated to residents & staff at Bangeston Hall (Orbis), Pembroke Dock.

Lyndsey Price, Manager at Orbis, said: “Thank you to UNISON for the very kind donation of this picnic bench. The people at Bangeston Hall will get much use out of this in the coming Summer months which is much appreciated”.

The photos show Pembrokshire College construction students with their tutor Neil Harries and curriculum area manager Chris Curtis, as well as deputy managers Joe Gibby and Callum Merroney (Bangeston Hall, Orbis), Jonathan Lewis (UNISON Pembs Branch Secretary), Manuela Hughes (UNISON Pembs Branch Chair) and James Williams (UNISON Pembs H&S steward).
